Seattle Seahawks — Mike Macdonald (2024–present) The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football team based in Seattle. The Seahawks compete in the National Football League (NFL) as members of the National Football Conference (NFC) West Division. They have played their home games at Lumen Field in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood since 2002. The team's name is a tribute to the osprey, a species of bird also known as the sea hawk. Mike Macdonald, formerly the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, was hired by the Seattle Seahawks on January 31, 2024, just three days after the Baltimore Ravens lost the AFC Championship to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-10. The hiring was significant because Macdonald, at 36 years old, became the youngest head coach in the NFL at the time, replacing Pete Carroll, who at 72 was the oldest. In the 2024 season, the Seahawks had a 10–7 record but did not qualify for the playoffs. In the 2025 season, the Seattle Seahawks achieved a 14–3 record, the best in franchise history in the regular season, won the NFC West title, and secured the first seed in the conference for the playoffs. In the divisional round, the Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers 41–6. Then, Seattle beat the Los Angeles Rams 31–27 in the NFC Championship game, securing a rematch against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, which they won 29–13. Under Macdonald's leadership, Seattle's defense jumped from 25th in points allowed in 2023 to 12th in its rookie season in 2024, culminating in the number 1 defense in the league in the 2025 season. Justifying why he is considered a "defensive genius." Alex
